Manual Lymphatic Drainage
In tandem with light facial release, manual lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a treatment using gentle skin stretching movements to clear lymphatic fluid where it is getting stagnant so it can be reabsorbed into the body. The goal is to relieve swelling that happens when medical treatment, illness, or inactivity blocks your lymphatic system from flowing.
Why Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
How Does It Work?
Your lymphatic system is an integral part of your immune system. It is made up of lymphatic fluid, lymph nodes, lymph vessels, bone marrow, spleen, thymus, tonsils, and adenoids. All these tissues help your body keep fluid levels in balance and fight off sickness and disease.
Because Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps to balance fluid levels in the body as well as improve immune function, it has been known to alleviate a wide spectrum of conditions, including but not limited to:
Inflammation
Chronic Pain
Migraines/headaches
Autoimmune conditions
Fibromyalgia
Chronic Fatigue
Pre/post surgery care
Lipedema
Immune Support
Long Covid

What Conditions Does MLD Help?
I will begin your session by clearing fluid near the neck and clavicle. This area is the place where all fluid eventually comes to be filtered and then either recycled into the circulatory system (blood) or excreted via poop or pee.
After working this area, I will address musculoskeletal imbalances in the body using gentle myofascial release techniques. Once a clear pathway is created for the lymphatic fluid to flow, we will begin clearing fluid in stagnant areas.
Because swelling begins just one millimeter under the skin, little pressure is required to make big changes. This is a slow, gentle, and persistent modality. Everyone's body is different, so I will adapt my practice to best help you!
