The Resting Hootenanny: You Don't Have to Do the Holidays Alone

Sunday, December 6th | 11:30 AM–12:15 PM MST | $10 | Online via Google Meet

The holidays can bring up a whole lot of complicated feelings when you're living with chronic illness or pain. Maybe you're grieving the traditions you can't participate in anymore. Maybe you're feeling lonely while everyone else seems to be celebrating. Maybe family gatherings are complicated, or you're just tired of trying to explain why you can't do what you used to.

You don't have to do the holidays alone.

Join us for a gentle, flare-friendly online gathering for young adults living with chronic illness and pain. We'll make space for the loneliness, grief, and complicated emotions that can come with navigating the holidays in a body that has its own limits.

This is a chance to step away from the pressure to keep up with everyone else and spend a little time with people who understand what it's like.

What to expect

We'll spend 45 minutes together in a low-pressure, welcoming space. There will be room to reflect on the emotional weight of the holidays, connect with others who understand, and share whatever is on your mind, or simply listen.

You can participate as much or as little as you want. Come cozy on the couch, keep your camera off, listen quietly, or join the conversation. There's no expectation to share, and no need to explain yourself.

What you might leave with

A little less loneliness. A reminder that your experiences and feelings make sense, even when the holidays look different than you imagined. And a sense of connection with people who understand that you can belong, even when your body limits how you participate.
