The Resting Hootenanny: You Don't Have to Earn Your Rest
Sunday, November 8th | 11:30 AM–12:15 PM MST | $10 | Online via Google Meet
What if you didn't have to push through? What if you could let yourself rest without feeling guilty about everything you're not getting done?
When you're living with chronic illness or pain, rest can come with a whole lot of baggage. Maybe you feel like you should be doing more, that you're letting people down, or that you have to prove you're sick enough to deserve a break. Maybe slowing down feels harder than pushing through.
You don't have to earn your rest.
Join us for a gentle, flare-friendly online gathering for young adults living with chronic illness and pain. We'll make space for the pressure we carry around rest, the expectations we struggle to meet, and the guilt that can come with honoring our body's needs.
This is a chance to step out of the pressure to push through and practice giving yourself permission to do less, with a little help from people who get it.
What to expect
We'll spend 45 minutes together in a low-pressure, welcoming space. There will be a little reflection and conversation around rest, guilt, and the expectations we put on ourselves, along with space to connect with others who understand what it's like to live in a body that doesn't always cooperate.
You can participate as much or as little as you want. Come cozy on the couch, keep your camera off, listen quietly, or join the conversation. There's no expectation to share, and no need to explain yourself.
What you might leave with
A little less pressure to push through. A little more permission to honor what your body needs without shame. And a reminder that you don't have to navigate all of this alone.
